Jobu Golf Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 21, 2026

Jobu Golf is an app for golf groups, starting with Ryder Cup–style trips between two teams of friends. It's made by Jobu Golf ("we"). This policy explains what the app collects, why, who it's shared with, and the choices you have.

Who can use it

Only people a trip commissioner has added to the roster can sign in. There's no public sign-up. Everything in the app is visible only to signed-in members of the group.

Players' friends and family can also ask, on the website, to follow along as Patrons. A commissioner approves each request. Patrons use the website only: they see the scores, recaps, predictions, stats and the Public chat, and can post there, but not the team chats, the players' chat or the photo album.

What we collect

WhatWhy
Your name, nickname and email addressTo let you sign in with an emailed code, and to show you on the leaderboard and in matches
A profile photo, if you add oneTo show it in place of your initials, to players (and to Patrons, unless you hide your name from them)
Your handicap index, team and tees for each tripTo work out handicap strokes and pairings
Golf scores, match results, and who entered or changed each score and whenTo run the leaderboard and keep each trip's record
Emoji reactions you add in the feedTo show them to the group
Messages you send in the chats (including GIFs you pick), and your reactions, replies and when you last read each chatTo run the group chat, your team's chat and the Public chat, and show who's seen what
Your answers to the profile questions ("About me"), and whether Patrons may see each oneFor the player intros and Meet the Teams, and so Jobu knows a bit about you (if you've said yes to the AI)
Questions you ask Jobu in a chat or in Ask the statsSo Jobu can answer them (see "Jobu, the AI" below), and to limit how many a day
For Patrons: name, email, who they know on the trip and how, and a short note; their Pick'em picksSo a commissioner can approve the request, and to run Pick'em
Photos and videos you choose to add, with when they were taken, their size and length, your favorites and reactionsTo show them in the trip's album and chats, grouped by day
Messages or photos you report, and players you blockSo commissioners can review reports, and so you don't see people you've blocked
A push notification token for your phone, and your notification settingsTo send the notifications you've chosen (birdies, results and so on)
Your choice about Jobu (the AI), and whether Patrons may see your nameTo know what Jobu may use (see below), and what Patrons see

We don't collect your location, contacts or payment information. The app has no ads, doesn't track you across other apps or websites, and doesn't sell data.

Photos, videos and your camera

Chats and content rules

There's a chat for all the players, one for each team (visible only to that team), and a Public chat that Patrons can read and post in. Before posting, everyone agrees to the chat rules. You can report any message or photo, and the commissioners review reports and can remove content. You can block anyone, and you'll no longer see their messages. When a message contains a link, the app fetches that page's title and image to show a preview.

Face ID and fingerprint log in

If you turn on log in with Face ID, Touch ID or your fingerprint, your phone checks it; the app never sees or stores your face or fingerprint, only whether you've turned the option on. Your sign-in is stored on your phone encrypted, with its key in the phone's secure Keychain (Android Keystore).

Jobu, the AI

Jobu is the app's AI: Claude, a model from Anthropic. He writes the recaps and previews, the morning notes and live updates, the player intros and Pairings Night reactions, and he answers when someone asks him something in the players' chat, a team chat or Ask the stats. To do that, the app sends Anthropic:

Never email addresses, photos or videos. To answer questions outside the Cup (the weather at the course, a course's rating and slope, golf news), Jobu can search the web and read web pages through Anthropic. Only his search terms and the pages he opens go out, nothing about you.

GIFs

The GIF button in the chats searches GIPHY. Your search goes to GIPHY through our server, without your name or account. The GIFs themselves load from GIPHY, which sees your phone's internet address, like any website. Results are limited to GIPHY's PG-13 rating.

Who we share data with

We use these service providers to run the app. Each gets only what it needs:

We don't share data with anyone else, except if required by law.

How long we keep it

Scores and results make up the group's history, so we keep them year to year. Chats, photos and videos are kept until they're removed or the account that posted them is deleted. Error reports are deleted after 90 days.

If you delete your account, we delete your login, email address, push tokens and notification settings, your chat messages, reactions and read receipts, your reports and blocks, your stats questions and connector links, and every photo and video you added (including the files). Your name stays on the matches you played, so the other players' results and history still add up. If you'd like your name removed from past results too, contact us.

Deleting your account

In the app, tap your photo at the top right, then Delete my account (on the website, Settings → Delete my account). Patrons can ask a commissioner, or us using the contact details below, to remove them. Anyone can also ask us to do it.

Children

Jobu Golf is for adults. It isn't directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections and stored with access rules that limit each person to what they need. Only commissioners can change trips, rosters and pairings, and Patrons can't change anything.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and let members know in the app.
